As I’ve been looking through my posts recently, I’ve noticed that I like a lot of faux.
For example there’s the
faux weathered twigs, faux hammered copper, a faux cowhide lampshade…
and then there’s the
faux leather storage boxes and the faux tin ceiling storage boxes.
See what I mean?
Does that make me a fauxaholic?
Should I be going to FA?
Well, I’m going to indulge myself a little first, as any ‘holic would!!
So I’m starting a series called Faux and TellU.
Yep, you guessed it, it’s going to be all about FAUX.
Who knows, it may become it’s own category, perhaps it’s own page. We’ll see.
I’ve got my first post coming up real, real soon, so please stay tuned!
And I’d love to hear what you think of it then, too.
Meanwhile, Ken has been working on the stairs, adding new wood on the risers
where it was either missing or partially attached and not so sturdy.
Here is a shot of the basement, half painted.
Do you see that little table between the washer and dryer?
Well it won’t be there too long.
Because I salvaged this table from somebody’s front curb for free and took it home with me.
Ken finagled with it a little bit, and we’ve turned it into a laundry table to fit in just that spot.
I plan to stain that table with a vinegar and steel wool solution,
so I tested the solution out on this tray that Ken made for my piece of faux snakeskin texture.
It was very easy to do with pretty fascinating results.
See the transformation above from top to bottom.
I like, make that love, that there’s no stickiness and no messing with turpentine for clean up.
You can see a whole list of tutorials on this technique, here on Pinterest.

Lastly, this month has been filled with uncertainties and near accomplishments
as we are waiting to see where my son will be transferred to next in his work rotation.
He was actually going to come home for a visit last weekend but then changed his plans last minute.
Of course expecting him to come home, we put a halt to the basement painting…Ah well.

I have also been taking an accounting class for the last few months,
and I only have 1 lesson and then the final exam to take!!! Yipee
And today, I am walking with a group of my friends in the Walk to Cure Alzheimer’s.

So that’s what’s been going on around here.
How busy are you this season?
Is life moving too fast, what with modern technology?
Or are we all just piling on way too much to accomplish?
Enjoy your weekend ~ Amy

I’m busy… but I could utilize my time better. We do what’s important to us right… Great curb find! And admitting you’re a faux aholic is the first step LOL! Hopefully your son won’t rotate too far from you. Hope you’re having a good weekend.

Yep, you are a faux aholic and I’m pretty sure that’s a good thing! Your basement is moving right along and I can’t wait to see it! I’m excited about your new series, sounds like a fun one.

I wish you all the best on your exam! I love all of your progress on the basement. It is so bright and clean…unlike my basement! Great find on your laundry table. It will be fantastic!

At least the only faux thing about you is your crafts. Good luck with the exam. I hope your son gets placed closer to you and I love you’re doing the walk for Alzheimer’s. It’s one very close to my heart xxx

I’m all “faux” it!

You’re a woman of many talents! Accounting?! As someone who is somewhat mathematically challenged, I’m impressed. Good luck on your exam. I know they’re not easy, but I know you’ll ace it.
