If you went out to dinner at a restaurant and the waiter put down a flower pot with a loaf of bread baking right out of it, wouldn’t you do a double take? I certainly did when I sat down to dinner with my son last spring at Patti’s Settlement, located just outside of Land Between the Lakes in Grand Rivers, Kentucky.
My husband and I made several trips down to the Land Between the Lakes area while visiting my son, as he was studying for his masters degree at Murray State University. You can check out our last stop in part4 of this LBL series if you missed it.
Enjoying flower pot bread at Patti’s Settlement in western Kentucky
I’m proud to say that my son successfully graduated, which led to a celebration dinner, which brought us to Patti’s Settlement and the famous flower pot bread.
When my son suggested we dine at Patti’s, he mentioned that the flower pot bread is one of their specialties. When the waitress placed the bread down on our table, I was most certainly enticed by this novelty.
Who wouldn’t be? I mean, bread cooking right out of a flower pot? It was certainly a new one on me.
Let me tell you, this bread melts in your mouth! It is served with a berry cream cheese spread, although the bread is incredibly delicious with or without.
Patti’s impression on my taste buds didn’t stop there either.
The wait staff filled us in on some of the culinary details, like all the food at Patti’s is made from scratch. Some of the recipes have been handed down through generations, and some of the recipes are still secret to this day.
I ordered the pork chop with a baked potato that came with a heavenly homemade cheese sauce.
Patti’s Settlement is not just for lunch and dinner. There is miniature golf, a gift shop, even a wedding chapel and gazebo.
Imaging an outdoor wedding in this romantic venue.
The settlement grounds are landscaped on a variety of levels.
Every where you look you’ll find lush greenery and rustic enchantment.
Did I mention the desserts? Patti’s desserts, all made from scratch, would have to be another post altogether, but you can check out their menu here, for more details.
Do you have a restaurant nearby that’s the real deal… all homemade food, like the way Patti’s serves it up?
Visiting and dining at Patti’s Settlement was so enjoyable. I was craving the whole meal all-over-again for weeks afterwards.
I wished I lived closer, because it is a place I would definitely visit often.
Visiting and exploring both Kentucky and Tennessee has given me an amazing chance to see and experience new and different sights, flavors, and wonderful people. I’m so glad I have had the chance.
Thanks so much for stopping by
and following along on the Land Between the Lakes series. ~ Amy

I think I want o try flowerpot bread!
That food sounds as amazing as the grounds are. Congrats to your son. We have a garden place that the menu is from what they grow in the kitchen garden but it’s not as good as pork chops 🙂
