What Paint Color is Trending for You?

Hi friends. How is it going? Let’s talk about paint colors. What is trending for you? Or do you keep it simple and stay away from the trends?

I have seen sooo many different styles lately my head is spinning. But that doesn’t mean I don’t love what I’m seeing. Newest of all is the bold, bright colors, wall stencils, and wallpaper. The cross-matched patterns and brass or gold accents. Have you been following the One Room Challenge? Wow, so many different styles!

And I love them all, but when you are doing your own home, you still have to figure out what is going to work for you.

Trending Paint Colors Poll

Let’s take a poll

So let’s have some fun. Tell me what’s been going on in your world with paint color or decor style.

  • What look is trending for you?
  • What paint color did you most recently paint that room with?
  • What color do you want to cover the walls in next?
  • Are you tempted to stencil a wall?

(Note: this giveaway has expired, but please keep reading to see what everyone is choosing as their favorite paint color choices).

UPDATE: The poll has ended and the answers are in.

Results: Trending Paint Color Choices from the Survey

Adding up the poll count, Neutral colors wins the top choice. Here is a list broken down.

  1. Neutrals, Grays, and Whites = 52 %
  2. Color (with blue and green hues being the most popular) = 33%
  3. Neutrals with pops of color, earth tones, or pastels = 15%

So it looks like over half of us still like some shade of white, beige, greige or gray. Perhaps that’s what we feel most comfortable with.

Approximately one-third of us like to see a variation of bolder colors on our walls. Blues and greens were most mentioned as specific colors.

Lastly, about one-fifth of us still like neutrals, but with pops of color, or mixed in with pastels.

Wouldn’t it be interesting to take a poll like this once a year and see how or if even these percentages would change much?

Thank you to everyone who joined in to answer ~ Amy xox

I am boring and it is always neutrals. I love bold colors though and need to take the leap and use them in my projects.

Well I’m currently in a weird place with my decor where I’m wanting to do one room in pastel colors and another room in a dark, “magical” medieval theme. I would love to play around with some fun stencils as well. I’ve got a bit of a weird style, but I want my home to be a warm wonderland of sorts! 🙂 There’s a trending color concept of unicorn-like pastels in my mind for this summer…

I have been painting a cream white that has a little yellow in it. I’m sticking with it, I was going to paint the bathroom a little bit more yellowy, but I recently read that anything yellow gets less $$ when you sell. I did my trim in white with a satin gloss, and I like that, it shows the walls aren’t white, but cream.

I’m really drawn to the creamy whites, myself. The house were in now had a soft yellow wall color, and we bought it, but I imagine the realtors or stagers are looking at the average. My thought is paint it what you like, right?! Thanks so much for joining in, Rosie.

I’d paint every room in my house in shades of basic blue, but that could get boring – even though blue is my favorite color. Three of our four bedrooms are done in blues – the fourth is my TV room now (it used to be my kids’ play room) and I’m getting ready to paint it – two coordinating shades of green. My living room is done in neutral tan on all but one wall, which is green. My kitchen is done in blues. We have three bathrooms. The main bathroom is blue, as is the 3/4 bathroom in the basement by the family room (which isn’t used much these days since two of my girls are moved out and the third just doesn’t use it much). Our second-floor bathroom was painted a pale yellow when we moved in, and I recently moved up to a rich, warm gold and swapped out the cheap, laminate vanity that was there since the house was built with a open-bottom vanity in espresso. I’d actually consider changing the color scheme of one of the other bedrooms, but it’s my husband’s clutter room and it would take too much work to get everything moved out to paint it (not to mention that he’d just put all the junk back in).

My best friend went with several light blue/ gray paint colors in her house most recently (but not all the rooms) and it looked gorgeous. One of the shades is a silvery blue in her basement, it’s so calming. She painted “Prom Dress Blue” in her kitchen and it looks amazing with her wood cabinets. But she also did a dark gray with white and red accents in their upstairs bathroom and several other brown and cream colors throughout. I don’t blame you for not getting to interested in painting your hubby’s clutter room, but I could see how it is tempting. Thanks so much for joining in Linda!!
