We’re talking about something a little different…and delicate, today. Bathroom air fresheners. Don’t we all wish we had a magic potion for this, shall I say, challenge?
Call me stuffy, but the idea of covering up the smell of “number two” with sweetly scented chemical fragrances just does not work for me. Does it for you?
You know the type of sprays I’m talking about. Vanilla Moments. Coconut Moonlight. Peach Flower.
Do we really want aromas we tend to enjoy smelling in the kitchen anywhere near odors that we’d prefer to avoid smelling in the bathroom? Gah.
I mean we’ve all been there, right?
You’re standing in line to use the bathroom while at cousin Junior’s graduation party.
Uncle Bud opens the bathroom door, releasing a cloud of vanilla scented aerosol, followed immediately by a second blast of scent that couldn’t be more on the other side of the olfactory spectrum if it tried.
Your eyes water. Your gag reflex kicks in. You turn on your heels and head back to the party, hoping you can keep your legs crossed for the next 30 minutes until it’s safe to go into the bathroom again.
Here’s what actually works better for eliminating bathroom smells
A much more effective way to really tackle offensive bathroom odors is by choosing bathroom air fresheners with these ideas in mind.
- Start using “odor neutralizing” and “odor absorbing” options which quickly attack and evaporate the odor before it really takes hold.
- Find sprays that have more earthy, pungent aromas that blend more cohesively with bathroom odor. Think pine, cedar, bamboo. Fragrances that are closer to the earth than the kitchen.
- Use a combination of the two above.
Ken and I have tested out a variety of bathroom sprays in our own home (TMI, I know), and I would recommend these products to anyone.
Perhaps you’ll find your magic potion, here.
It all kind of makes sense, doesn’t it?
Pun intended, of course.
Not only for bathrooms. These odor neutralizing sprays worked amazingly well throughout the rest of our house. As we plan to have a holiday party, here. I’m also looking forward to spritzing up the house right before our family arrives.
As we test out more I will update the list, but I think you’ll find an option here that you can confidently put out on the bathroom counter top just in time for holidays.

Seriously….. I just cleaned a double bathroom vacated by one of my sons who moved out with a friend, and I made a list of things to get. So I sit down at the computer to do my grocery order and realize I never buy air freshener so of course I google the best kinds. And there you are in my search, so I had to stop in and see what works at your house.

Yes, numbers one and two are my faves. No more food-related bathroom scents in this house, lol.
