When someone gives me the opportunity to pamper myself, well, let’s just say I won’t go running in the opposite direction. So when I was invited to a Mary Kay event last month in celebration of International Women’s Day, I said “I’m in”!! It was just before my trip to Nashville and goodness knows I’d been spending way to much time either at work or in front of the computer, so as hard as it was to pull away, off I went.
When I got to the event, I was greeted by my Mary Kay consultant who was armed and ready to help me and all the other guests choose cleansers, creams and make up colors before the makeover began.
Next we all sat down in groups and each had a personal BEFORE photo taken.
Call me vain, call me a chicken, but before I show you the BEFORE photo, I’m showing you the AFTER shot. This is me and my partner in crime (aka: cousin) AFTER our makeover.
Tips for taking a BEFORE the makeover photo!!
One lesson I have learned, is that if you getting a makeover, and you let someone take a BEFORE shot, try to make sure that you are NOT LOOKING DOWN, and that you have GOOD LIGHTING.
This is my BEFORE photo, now, some might say,
“Amy, you’re not looking down and there seems to be good lighting….”
Well that’s that’s my story and I sticking to it!
As the mass makeover transpired, all of us girls applied cleansers, creams and the suggested make up colors, and before you know it, all of the makeover attendants were complimenting one another.
“That color really brings out your eyes…”
“What shade of lipstick are you wearing? I love it…”
By the end of the event, I felt revived and even a little more “special”, ya know?
I also had the chance to look at and sample some of the other Mary Kay products. One of the products is the Lemon Parfait Pedicure Set which smells sooooo good I could basque in it all day. Truly!
Perfect Mother’s Day gift idea… I’m sending out hint’s, in case anyone is listening.
Since I liked it so much, and because I’ve heard from my Mary Kay rep that there are only a few of these left for the season,
I’m giving one away, thus it’s a
Lemon Parfait Pedicure Set GIVEAWAY!
If you would like to enter the giveaway, all you have to do is leave a comment below letting me know what you like to do to pamper yourself, whether you’ve ever tried Mary Kay products, or simply what you had for dinner last night.

The giveaway ends April 30th, 2014.
Winner will be chosen at random.
Please note: This is not a sponsored post. and I’m not a huge wearer of make up, but I’ve been using Mary Kay for quite some time and find that the skin care products work very well for my skin type. I just wanted to share a product that I really like.
Horsey get’s a makeover
Because this post is all about pampering an makeovers, I wanted to show you one of my sister’s horses who also got a makeover last weekend.
This is Charity. She’s a 35 year old Arabian mare. She has given life to about 7 or more colts and fillies and she has been in our family for a long, long time. She is sweet and gentle and enjoyed every minute of her horsey makeover (which in case you are wondering, consists of several horse brushes and a hoof pick).
Thank you so much for stopping by and good luck on the giveaway!
I’ll post the winner later next week.
Hope you are having a parfait day ~ Amy

Hey Amy! What a sweet giveaway – and I’ve never tried Mary Kay products (I just admire the Cadillacs!!) Lucky you getting a makeover – you look so gorgeous!! and I think they always doctor the before shots to make you look worse so that there is a much bigger before-and-after contrast.
Enjoy the day!

This is a great giveaway! I’ve tried Mary Kay a few times actually. My mom always gets us girls their lip glosses and such for our Christmas stockings. One year I also got their silky hands stuff. Amazing. My cousin also had a rep come over and do her bridal parties makeup for her wedding. The lady was super nice and did a great job. As for pampering myself, I don’t do a lot of it. I do my nails quite often. That’s about it. Thanks for your giveaway!

My wife really likes Mary Kay products. She likes to pamper herself with manicures and pedicures. I recently got a chance to pamper her with a spa day! And just in case it is required, we had chicken and noodle soup for supper last night.

I love this post and think you are awesome for posting your before and after shots. The name alone sounds like it smells so good! My girls and I are jealous of your horse!! My kids are both completely horse crazy right now. We’re all going to Horse Camp this summer for Girl Scouts and can’t wait!

You look fantastic after AND before. Glad you had a pamper day Amy. Love the horse shot and I am surprised that a horse can live that long which totally entitles her to a makeover!

So fun you look great in both shots. I haven’t seen Mary kay around in ages, since I was little and my mum had it.
The horse is just beautiful.
