A Room Fit for a Queen

When Cat from Cut Out and Keep invited me to participate in the #DIYTheRoom Challenge, she told me that I could design the room for anyone I choose. The person could be famous, real, fictional, historical…, that’s a wide range, right? But it didn’t take me long to decide exactly whose room I would LOVE to try and decorate. One of my favorite T.V. shows is Reign. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a fictional story about a very real person, Mary Queen of Scots.

The show is based lightly on Queen Mary’s life, but plenty of liberties are taken, which probably adds a lot of drama, intrigue and romance where there probably was not quite so much of those things.

Either way, I love Mary’s character on the show and I love the set design with it’s Gothic and medieval themes, you know…castles, lots of stone, dark hallways, candlelight, embroidered gowns…

As I was designing Mary’s room, I imagined her to be a modern day Mary Queen of Scots. What would she need, what would she like…how will my design choices please the queen?

You can either click on the photo above or click here, #DIYTheRoom for Modern Day Mary Queen of Scots.

You may recognize those faux leather boxes, but there’s more.

Here is a list of a few, and it’s all DIY:

Duct tape seamstress form

Tentacle table (yes, as in Loch Ness monster)

Wood and stenciled headboard

Check out her room and let me know if you think it’s fit for a queen.

Want to design your own room for someone special? Follow the link at the bottom of Mary’s post.

 Enjoy your day ~ Amy

I tried to leave a comment over there, but “unable to post comment” popped up. I have no idea why.
