Vintage Bottle Cap Paper Decoupage Tin Cans

May 20, 2015 By Amy 4 Comments

20 May

I bought some vintage looking scrapbook paper a while back because I thought the design was a make up of vintage soda bottle caps. When I pulled it out to use it, I looked more closely and realized it was actually vintage milk bottle caps. Oh? Well that’s okay too, either way I liked the colors and the way it looked. I’ve been seeing a lot of tin cans wrapped with vintage labels, papers, and designs of one kind or another and so that’s what I had in mind.

Lots of these tins I’ve been seeing around the web are filled with fresh flowers, herbs or garden plants. Yes, mine will be too!

Easy enough to make:

– Gather tin cans

– Paper of choice –> vintage milk bottle cap scrapbook paper in my case

– Cut paper down but slightly larger than tin can

– Cover can and back side of paper with decoupage

– Wrap paper around can and smooth out wrinkles

– Run finger nail along the edge under the lip of the can to make a crease

– Gently tear the paper at the crease

– Done:)

On a side note, when we pulled down our basement wall, part of the wall, if you can believe it was made up of paneling. Actually the basement wall was built with random pieces of wood and paneling like a jigsaw puzzle?!

Anyhow, being backdrop challenged, I took the two pieces of paneling and painted them white and am in the process making a new backdrop, sooner or later.

But did I mention that my that my basement is illuminationally challenged, too?

Here is my makeshift backdrop placed in the lightest spot in my basement. Why in the basement, you ask? Why not!

If I’m going to be challenged, I might as well go for the glory.

So I took my very darkly lit photos…and then –> went a little ca-razy with some light features (and several others, too) in Photoshop.

…And this is how much light I wish I had for this photo shoot.

So, is it just me or does this vintage paper look like soda bottle caps to you, too?

Since I’ve been getting all game roomy in the basement, I thought this paper was keeping in the spirit, but I’m not sure milk bottle caps have the same effect…perhaps a milk mustache would make be in order.
