I Spy Gravel Filled Mason Jars (Plus New Home News)

I left off a few weeks ago with the news that my son was arriving home from Dubai. Well, we’ve been doing plenty of visiting family and friends, attending summer parties of all kinds and just hanging out in general… But, we also made a huge leap and put an offer down on a small house. Not much bigger than the townhouse we have now, but it includes a garage and a —> hobby shed. (Yippee!!)

So as the ink is drying on all the paperwork we’ve signed in the last few weeks, I’m going to run a fun little summer series that I’ll call “I Spy”.

Decorate your next table setting with gravel filled mason jars

I’m going to start with these mason jars filled with fish tank gravel, that I spied at my brother-in-law’s 70th birthday party celebration.

My niece, Mary, is one one of the most creative and talented people I know. To decorate the outdoor tables, she filled a bunch of mason jars with fish tank gravel. This helped to weigh them down and add interest at the same time.

She also glued photos of her father to card stock and attached it all to bamboo sticks. She filled the jars with water and fresh flowers, all from her own garden. Then adorned them with the photo collection.

The flowers and photos alone would have been gorgeous in the jars. But that extra touch of the fish tank gravel made the jars pop.

Mary had her own blog for a while, called Marytree, back before blogging was cool. She currently has her own photography business see on Facebook.

Thank you, Mary, for letting me share your creativity.
