Born before cable T.V., cell phones, and computers. Oh my!
Yes, that’s me, and a slew of other DIY Bloggers who are over 50 and proud of it!
Do we have any alternative?
I am fortunate enough to belong to a group of bloggers who are all 50+ years old. Most of the time we share blogging tips and tricks. But recently, Debbie over at Debbie Doos, had and idea. (Thank you, Debbie)!
She thought that there might be a lot of blog readers out there who are interested in what the FiftySomething DIY crowd is up to. I mean we have wisdom on our side. And we’ve all lived through the styles of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s…you get the picture.
Shabby chic. Rustic. Farmhouse. Modern. Industrial. Ecclectic. Unique.
Getting older doesn’t mean you have to loose your love for style. It might mean it only gets better?
Many of the bloggers not only love decorating, but they share tips, suggestions and personal stories of growing older with an attitude. You are going to want to check out the bloggers in the blog hop below. Between DIY talent, humor and trend setting there is something for every style and many over 50 challenges, as well.
Please allow me to introduce myself (don’t start singing yet, Mick!)
My name is Amy.
I love to make things. Often times I like to experiment. Sometimes it turns out. Other times… it don’t!
But it’s all about being inspired in my book.
Making something you saw online.
Making something you dreamed up in your head.
Adding your own new twist to an old reliable craft, and so on…
Here are a few of my posts and projects:
Lake house inspired side table
Painted sign on vintage metal chair
Upcycled lanterns turned solar
Tin can lighted Christmas tree
Being over 50 might mean I need to take a few extra naps, and that I have to use voice recognition on my phone. (Cause I can’t text worth a darn.) But it’s nice to know in many cases, being over 50 is not as bad as rumor would have it.
Peruse below for more #FiftyandFab
Thanks so much ~ Amy
Because these FiftySomething bloggers want you to know that…

You are very talented Amy and do beautiful work! Many of these projects I remember and have pinned on my boards. Voice Recognition – why didn’t I think of that! The stress I undergo every day while trying to type on that darn little screen gives me hives. That ends today, thanks to you.
Amy says
Exactly. Typing on those little screens just doesn’t seem to get any easier, haha. Thanks Marie 🙂

Hi Amy,
Wow Amy, I’m so glad I stopped by and saw all your great projects. So much talent in this group and you are definitely one of them.
Amy says
Aw, you’re too sweet. Thanks so much Patti.

Your repurposing projects are such an inspiration! After 50, we actually remember using some of the things we repurpose. Keep up the good work!
Amy says
Ain’t that the truth. Thanks Betsy

Just when you think you can’t get more inspired – you do. Love your creations, so creative! P.S. thank God those phone screens are not getting any smaller. I have troubles with my computer keyboard as is, lol. Pinned!
Amy says
So do I. I seem to hit the back button more than any other button, lol. Thanks so much Jas

I’ll never be able to text worth a darn either but because I grew up with manual typewriters I can type like the wind. (Full of hot air.) My solution is to work out with old people, makes me feel 40 again.
Amy says
Hahaha, I’m going to have to try that one. Thanks Jeanna

Amy, I like your attitude! From another over 60’er, I can relate to everything you said. We DO have a lot of wisdom to share! You are certainly plenty on trend with your repurpose projects you’re showing us in this post. I like the twig Christmas tree and the tin can Christmas tree, but really all of them!

Amy, yes we have our moments… I still cannot use a smartphone. But overall, I would have to say that the best is yet to come. Looking back to our twenties I think we were pretty clueless and faking it most of the time. Now we have confidence and we know exactly what we’re doing.
